Organization Modes

1. Flexible Organization Modes

   FingerPDF doesn't force any organization mode. It supports several modes according what you are used to do. Some people prefers to have a central library, others to synchronize with a folder, others to watch particular filesystem folders....

2. Library Mode

   Library Mode is similar on how iTunes^TM manages music. There is a single library containing all PDF files and Tagging can be used to organize them. When you add file to library it is automatically copied into FingerPDF library directory.

3. Watch Folders Mode

   Folder Mode allows you to specify a set of directory sources for your PDF. FingerPDF keeps an eye on for any new files and automatically imports new documents with minimal interaction on user behalf. Just drop or download your PDF documents into your watched folders and FingerPDF will do it’s work

4. Synchronized with Folder

   In Synchronized Mode FingerPDF is synchronized with a root folder. Every subdirectory is automatically imported (only first level) as subfolder. Content is synchronized both ways: every change on filesystem is automatically detected. Every change performed with FingerPDF is done on filesystem too.

5. Virtual Library Mode

   Virtual Library Mode is the most flexible organization mode. User can organize PDF with (virtual) folders and tags as she prefers. Folders are virtual because they exist only in FingerPDF internals. When you use this mode, PDF files remain at their original location.

6. Tagging

   Sorting your items into folders is cool, but you can tag things, too! FingerPDF enables you to tag all of its items, giving you more flexibility to tag, search, and organize your items for the way you work. Tagging is supported in all modalities of FingerPDF.

Searching

1. Ranking Search Through Books

   Searching in FingerPDF allows you to quickly see what pages and what files write about your interested topic. Searching is Fast as FingerPDF implements its own engine. Searching is different from Spotlight.

2. Folder/Tag Searching

   Searching allows you to narrow your searches specifying folders and tags. Prefixing your query with "folder name:" or "tag name:" allows you to search only inside books that are part of that folder or tag.

3. Search Navigation

   Navigate your search results with keyboard for faster information retrieval. With a set of keys scroll up/down search results. With another set jump up/down into pages of your PDF. All of these (if you prefer) without touching your mouse.

4. Live Filtering

   Live filter allows you to instantaneously list PDF covers according what you are typing. You have many PDF files and you want to quickly select or jump any according a keyword. You type in live filter box and PDF are automatically filtered according their name.

Reading

1. PDF Preview

   Skim your documents without opening an external viewer. Zoom in further if you would like to. Easy navigation bars help you jump to the right page. Preview can be with two layouts: right or bottom according your video space. And if you love your preferred PDF reader, you can use it too.

2. Menubar Application

   FingerPDF is a Menubar application. This means it stays resident in menubar and you can quickly jump to it cliking it. If you prefer keyboard, use a global configurable shortcut to activate directly.
